VAIKUNDA EKADASI

Celebrating Vaikunda Ekadasi in a grand manner  is said to be started by Thirumangai Ashwar. he used to do Go Pooja / Go Daanam / Vaitharani Vratham/ etcat Srirangam.  

Two Stories for Vaikunda ekadasi

1- Ekadasi is said to have emerged from Vishnu of his 11 Shakthis(11 means Ekadasi). Ekadashi is created for destroying Demons Mooran. After destroying him, Ekadashi requested Vishnu to Bless her with Vaikundam and also requested Vishnu to Bless devotees who worship on Ekadasi thithi also with Vaikundam.

2- Similarly Mathu/Kaidapar are two demons destroyed by Vishnu and The Demons attained Paramapatham on Vaikunda Ekadasi. They requested Vishnu to give Vaikunda Prapthi to all who worship Vishnu on the same thithi. Hence this Vaikunda Ekadasi. The Devotees who have fastings and Vishnu chantings in night will have a place in Vaikundam definitely. 

At Srirangam

Srirangam Ranganatharkovil will celebrate Vaikunda Ekadasi for a month long period. There will be Twenty days Festivals. 10 days in Day Alankaram and Veethi Ula inside temple known as Pakal paththu & 10 days in night known as Raapaththu. 10thday will have 24 hours festival since night is Vaikunda Ekadasi. The Details will be as Below:

PRE FESTIVAL DAY   Thirunedunthaandakam - Araiyar Sevai - Thirunedunthandakam Pasuram,Vyagyanam, & Abinayam

                                          

Pakal Paththu Days

Daily Namperumal will leave Moolasthanam around 7.00 am, and reach Archuna Mandapam at 7-30 am.

Araiyar Sevai - Paasuram/Abinayam/Vyakyaanam.Muthangi Sevai. Namperumal will be different Alankaram.

Daily Arayar Sevai - Pasurams , Abinayams, vyakyanams etc will be there. Araiyars will recit pre fixed Pasurams, Thirumozhis etc daily. Araiyar Sevai is the main attraction in the 20 days function.

10th Day day Time The Namperumal will give Darshanam in Mohini Alankaram Nachiyar Thirukolam 

                              in Archunaa Mandapam from 6 am till 9 pm.

10th day night - Vaikunda Ekadesi. - 3-45 am Namperumal will leave Moolasthanam in Rathnangi - Opening of Paramapathavasal at 5 am. Namperumal Entering Paramapatha vaasal at 5-15 am. Namperumal will give Darshan at Thirumamani Asthana Mandapam from 5 am till 12 midnight.

Raapaththu Days

Daily Namperumal will Leave Moolasthanam at 12 noon and reach Ayirankaal Mandapam via Paramapathavasal in different Alankarams.namperumal will give Darshan in 1000 KaalaMandapam till 7/30 pm. 

All the 20 days the Moolavar will be in Muththangi Sevai.          

Srirangam Location

Srirangam is called as Bhoolokha Vaikundam - means Heaven in Earth.

First of the 108 Divyadesams sung by AAshwaars.

Holiest Place for Vaishnavites and Bagawaan Raamanujam recreator of  Vaisnavism, lived here for a long period and His Jeeva samathi is said to be in Ramaanuja Sannathi in the Outest Prahaaram of the Ranganathar Temple. It is believed He is Blessing his devotees from here and nails/hairs  in the Ramanuja diety is believed growing even now. The Biggest Temple in south India with the City within the Four Rajagopurams of the Temple. 

Even  50 years before,  the city is limited within the Four Prahaarams.

There is very retsricted growth outside the temple campus. Now the Growth of the town is beyond limit and

the present Srirangam Taluk spread from Cauvery Bridge /part of Trichy Town upto 20 kilometers in Trichy Dindigul Road - Chatrapatty village.
In between Cauvery & Kollidam the Srirangam situated on the Trichy to Chennai National Highway.Frequently Connected to Chennai,Bangalore and Southern parts of the Tamilnadu by Bus - Both Government & Private Omni Buses.
Srirangam is also connected frequently by Trains to Chennai & deep South and also to Northern Parts of the Country.



 

About Srirangam

Srirangam is the First and Formost Divyadesam of  the 108 Perumal Divya Desam Temples. Sung by all Alwars. In Vaishnavism Temple means Srirangam Temple. 

 Cauvery River from Kudagu Regions is separated in to  two Rivers and rejoined as Single creating a Island towns  in between at Three Places. Srirangapattinam & Shivasamuthiram are in Karnataka. Srirangam is is in Trichy Tamilnadu. Here the Cauvery itself is known as Akanda Cauvery,

 Srirangam is one of the Few Swayamviyaktha Sthalams in India. ( Thaane amaintha Kovil & sthalam)

 It is said that from anywhere in the World if we worship this Temple Direvtion - we will be blessed with Ranganatha perumal.

 The Cauvery at Srirangam is equivalent to Viraja Nathi at the entrance of the Vaikundalokam.

 Sthalam,Place,temple, Pushkaranis,Thalikai,Vaathyam, Palakaaram - All are said to be " biggest"
 compared with other temples.

 At Srirangam only - Kulavalli daughter of Kulasekara Ashvaar/ Andaal daughter of Periyaashvaar/ Thulukka naachiyaar daughter of Malikh Khaffoor Delhi Bathusha/ Kamalavalli daughter of Nanda Sosha raja - All Wedded to Perumal &  attained His Lotus Feet.

 This Temple was maintained by Pallavas ( 6 to 10 Century), Cholas ( 10 to 13 century), Kalingas in between for a small periods, Hoisalas ( 14 to 17), Vijayanagara kingdom,nayakkar regime from 18th Century and so on. they built various Gopurams,Mathils etc.,

The Temple has seven Mathil compounds, seven Praharams, and 21 Big Gopurams. The South Gopuram tallest in the whole world is constructed in our Time great efforts by Sreeman Ashagiyasingar swamy - 41st Ahobila mutt Jeer Swamy.

Rangavimanam in Srirangam Temple has specialities - The Rangavimaanam is Swayam - known as Aathivimaanam. All within few kilometers of this Vimanam is sure to attain Perumal Feet at Vaikundam.
It is in Pranav OM shape and Paravasudevar in the vimanam holds a Cup in his hands. It is said that the cup is moving towards his mouth slowly and if the  Cup reaches his mouth the  whole universe disappear.
This Vimaanam is obtained by Brahman from Vishnu after Penance for a long period. Brahman has embossed all Vedas in this Vimanam.
RanganathaPerumal is said to come into this Temple ona Panguni Valarpirai Sapthami/saturday/ when Chandran is at Rohini & Guru at Revathy.

In this Temple Sri Narayanan himself is as Danvanthri Perumal blessing to all devotees to remove Health Problems.

Here Garuda Bagwan is Very Big sitting & Head at rooflevel - Holding Amirtha Kalasam in his Hands.

Namperumal ( Uthsavar) has many Offerings From Kings/ Bathushas/ Nayaka Kings such as Pandiyan Kondai ( Thrown with diamonds), Vairamudi ( Designed Head Cap with Diamond) Muththangi ( Full Coat with Pearls & diamonds) like that. It is very joyful to see Nam perumal on Uthsavam days - daily with different dresses/alankarams & aaparanams etc.,
There are are Sethi Sevai ( Perumal & Thayaar) both only two times in a year. We have to see in our lifetime at least once.

The temple is Full of Festivals & in a year more than 125 days there will be Uthsavams.

Kambar has made arangetram of Kambaramayanam in this Temple only.

Sriramanujar  has attained jeevasamathi in this Temple in sitting Posture. In his separate sannathi it is said that the nails/hairs of the Ramanujar is still growing.

SUKRA STHALAM. Very Good parihaara Temple for SukranThosham etc.,. Self employed,Businessman, will be blessed with all Wealth Health .
If anybody has Viswaroopadarshanam of Ranganathar on Fridays concequently 48 weeks he will have no scarcity of food and money in his lifetime. If Sukran in Good Position in Horoscope he will have growthful period if has Viswaroopa Darshan.

Araiyar Sevai and sometimes with dancing is verry joyful to watch. This practice is started by  Nathamuni guru of Ramanujar few hundred years back and still continuing. the Araiyars are by heriditary and even now we can see during Vaikunda Ekadesi Festivals Araiyar Sevai on 20 days daily for few hours reciting selected Paasurams before Namperumal. Even Highlyqualified NRI araiyar youths coming for this festival to execute their heriditary divine rights with devotion & bhakthi.

ThyagarajaSwamikal sung two keerthanas on the Perumal. Two Brahmothsavams in Uthra Street, Sithrai Veethi each. 4 brahmothsavams in a year.
